| Lightroom Woo woo! The big debate debate about imaging software just got deeping in my opinion!
I downloaded Adobe Lightroom, (now shipping) for the trial period and I think it's great. I've used Portfolio and the Bridge-Photoshop combination but I can safely say Lightroom takes the biscuit.
Portfolio was slow on my computer and it's only an assets manager, you had to edit in PS etc anyway. Bridge and PS were good but bridge managed to crash all the time when editing batch metadata such as copyrighting or keywording. It's integration with CameraRAW is helpful but I recently switched to JPEG so it's a no brainer. Also on a side note, I took a swatch at PS CS3 and found it to be much better than CS2. It was only a beta that lasted 2 days but things like shadow and highlight manipulation and sharpening were far superior. Done.
Lightroom however, is the fastest app I've used. It's library functions are easy to use and it doesn't crash with large tasks. You can develop photos straight from the library or use the develop pane - really really useful. Cropping, red-eye and everything found in camerRAW can be changed including highlights and shadows, sharpening, saturation and the basics. Thumbs up! It also allows you to view before and after shots simultaneously which I think is very useful. If you need to do heavy editing, it integrates with PS so no troubles there. It offers printing and website designs but I've yet to get into them. On top of it all, it's non destructive so all your shots are not modified until you export them. this may not be a nessessary function but it doesn't hurt if you have plenty of storage space.
I thought it was that good i had to share it with you guys.
