I would have thought better of Canon too. I hope they put it right for you properly this time. Not that it helps you right now of course
My offer is still open, PM me if you want to.
Cheers
Warren

| | | Re: Good Ol Canon Its such bad luck, I am gutted to be honest. The lens was looked at by a mate who is a cameraman, and he has clarified that it is a small chip in the glass. They have fixed the lens hood but in the process damaged my lens, devalued it, and affected the optical quallity. This is not what I expected from Canon and I only hope that the matter can be resolved asap. I will push for a new replacement.....
I am sure most Canon repairs run smooth. However I had already spoken to canon and expressed my concerns as to how the lens hood would be taken of given its stuck fast nature. And I suppose judging by the marks left from the repair they had some issues. However I am amazed it came back like it did. I feel very let down by the service center. I love my canon set up and just want to be back taking pics.
I guess its bad luck as Im not due any bad karma

| | | Re: Good Ol Canon This makes me feel almost as upset as you, here I was saying it'll be fine, Canon will do a better job than new, and you get a broken lens sent back. INSIST on a new replacement, without delay. |

Thats ok glsammy Im sure its not very often Canon damage a lens I think I think I have just been un lucky. My only worry is that they start to say its not Canon at fault and that they cant prove the chip was done by the technician...I know what companys are like they try everything to get out of the blame. Im sure it will work out ok, its just frustraiting and not nice feeling you have been treated badly...
Dont feel bad mate im sure this happens very rarely and its sods law im the unlucky one...
Infact I have just been out woth the kids and dog in my local area and seen loads of birds and had a lovely time without a lens...I saw tree creepers, jays, jackdaws, wagtails, tits, and enjoyed just watching....I sometimes miss the pleasure of just watching as a camera makes you achive targets so to speak...So its good to not have it today...Plus the fact that Ive had enough of cameras for the moment...But still cant wait to get it back I have had time to find some new spots lately which I will focus on when I get my lens back
Take Care
