We've just opened a February Photography Competition in the
Gallery.
How to Enter
Simply upload your images to the
Gallery and place them in the relevant categories. If you'd like to enter photos that are already in the
Gallery, then contact us with the photo URL and we'll move them over.
You must give a title to your photos to easily identify them when voting begins. There are six categories that you can enter and all submissions must be in by the end of February.
Competition Categories
Weather - this month Wild About Britain's theme is 'Weather'. All photos in this category must be related to the weather and could include clouds, sunsets, frost, snow, rain, puddles etc - but it doesn't matter when you took the photograph.
Banner - Entries in this category must be exactly 955 x 120 pixels, no more than a 15k filesize, they don't have to be weather-related, but they should be relevant to this time of year, and able to fit the 'Wild About Britain' text (we don't mind changing the colour of it) in the top-left corner, like this:
***See the one at the bottom of this page
The remaining categories don't have a specific wildlife theme and don't have to be weather-related photographs, but it's probably a good idea to keep them relevant to this time of year. February - simply submit any wildlife photographs that you've taken this month – no cheating
Close-up - from a close-up of a bird to a macro photo of an insect
Landscapes - From a woodland trail up to a panoramic mountain range
Normal - everything in between the above
So there are several categories that you can put your photos in and that means you've got several opportunities to win, but we'll let you choose the category you think your photos should fit in.
You can submit as many photos as you like and you can enter them in as many categories as you like, but a single photo can only be entered in one category and one competition. This is to avoid having the same photo entered in multiple categories or having it re-submitted next month, the month after that, and so on.
Voting
Voting will take place for 7 days after the deadline and everyone will have the opportunity to vote on their favourite photographs in each category
Prizes
All winners will be added to a new Wild About Britain 'Award Winning Photographers' (working title?) section of the site.
A medium-sized image of the February photo will be placed on the Wild About Britain
homepage for the following month.
Thumbnails of the first four categories – weather, close-up, landscapes and normal – will replace the four thumbnails in the
Gallery box on the Wild About Britain
homepage for the following month.
The banner will replace the banner at the top of the screen in the
gallery for the following month.
At the end of the competition, all submissions will be moved to their relevant categories in the
Gallery.
