| | Camera Cleaning I need to have my camera cleaned, i have found canon approved agents in Scotland, Stoke-on Trent, and the South. Are there any in the Manchester area.

| | | Re: Camera Cleaning What needs cleaning? If it's just dust on the sensor, you're better off doing it yourself. A bit nerve-wracking the first time, but after that it's easy to check it regularly and keep it very clean, rather than waiting till it's properly dirty and having the hassle/expense of sending it off.
I use a Rocket Blower (very useful), plus the Copperhill Method for stuck-on bits of dust. Once you get it properly clean, new dust is generally easy to blow off as soon as you spot it, before it gets stuck on. |

| | | Re: Camera Cleaning I agree with Spud on this one. If it's just the sensor then you can do it yourself. Provided you don't go at it like a bull in a china shop, using caustic soda on a wire brush, you'll be fine! I use a Visible Dust sensor brush which clears just about everything, but I'll also use a sensor swab with cleaning fluid if necessary - it rarely is.
Having said that, I have just sent my camera in for a clean and service but that was mainly because it needed the rubber grips replacing so I thought they might as well give it a thorough going over at the same time.

| | | Re: Camera Cleaning I was going to reply on this one, bragging how I've never had to clean the sensor on my 7D, whilst I was always having to clean my 40D. Then I realised I'd hardly ever used my macro lens on my 7D, so I've never been passed F10!
No doubt it's as dirty as my garage floor, but ignorance is bliss.. |

Probably the one you found in Stoke-on-Trent.
Last time I checked they were the only one in the north of England.
I've used them in the past for Canon lenses and they do a decent job.
