| | | The Sun Newspaper wildlife competition The Sun has just rung me to say that my photo of "Three Foxes Hunting" has been shortlisted for their wildlife competition.
I am thrilled to bits.
When I entered the competition I told them that I had taken the image at the British Wildlife Centre in Lingfield. I was on a photography workshop there and learning more about my camera.
I know a lot of photographers are against images being taken at these Wildlife Centres, and submitted into competitions, but I am just a beginner and was learning about photography on the day I took the image. The Sun asked if I had "photoshopped" the image whatever that means. But no I had not, which leads me to believe that there may be worse things than taking a wildlife photograph at the British Wildlife Centre.
So at least I am honest and upfront, not like the infamous "Wolf jumping over a Fence" photo |

| | | Re: The Sun Newspaper wildlife competition Yes, congratulations!
Most photographers, myself included, are only concerned about shots of captive subjects being passed off as wild and you didn't do that. You've been open and honest from the start which is fine.
Good luck for the next stage!

| | | Re: The Sun Newspaper wildlife competition Damn it! I forgot to submit my entries for that competition. Very well done to you though. There are plenty of well known photographers getting some of their award winning images from wildlife centres so you are not alone. Like you say at least you were open and honest about it.

Never entered anything photography wise before but to talk to them and being told there are only 10 pictures in the final shortlist and out of thousands entered my picture is one of them is an amazing feeling --

| | | Re: The Sun Newspaper wildlife competition Wow, didn't know that there are only 10 in the shortlist. That is really great. Good luck with your entry too. I keep looking in the newspaper to see if the entries have been published, but maybe I have missed them. It's very exciting ! |

| | | Re: The Sun Newspaper wildlife competition Yes its great and yes 10 lol --- The lady I spoke to said that literally thousands had entered and only 10 was needed for the final shortlist so as already said Im chuffed just to get that far and so should you be
I only found this thread because of your post...... Was entering Sun Wildlife Comp and found it!!!
She also said it would be announced within the next 2 weeks! (I spoke to her on Thursday) and to keep an eye out in the paper as they would like to publish all pictures in the final 10 but its more likely just to be the winner!!!!
She also said we would find out either way through e,mail I pressume if we'd won!!
Cant believe I made it haha ---- Good Luck to you too - I hunted down your picture and its a cracker well done |

| | | Re: The Sun Newspaper wildlife competition I don't have a problem with people using photos of animals taken in captivity though I do think that it takes less skill to get a good photo. For me wildlife photography is about photographing animals in the wild, hence the term wildlife. Taking a good shot of something in a zoo or animal enclosure (like the British Wildlife Centre) takes a lot of the magic away from the shot in my opinion. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
