| | | Turnstone A great little bird often seen on coastline rocks in search of insects, crustaceans and molluscs.

| | | Re: Turnstone Many thank
My only gripe was the oof rock near to the single foot.
I couldn't go any higher on the monopod without disturbing them so I stuck to what was working lol

| | | Re: Turnstone More interested in the bird than anything else, but the way you've isolated the subject is the reason it works for me. If the rock was in focus, would it be better? Not in my humble opinion

| | | Re: Turnstone Steve,
I didn't mean that I wanted the rock in focus, more the fact that I anticipated some people to maybe say it was a little 'disstracting' as it was really close to the turnstone leg.
Ideally I'd have that little rock completely out of the way

| | | Re: Turnstone Dan,
I can see what you mean, but the big rock to the left is, to my mind, a bigger distraction than the small one in the foreground. However, I can see where others could make comment. What you have to remember is that with wildlife, unlike the studio, nothing is going to be 100% perfect. Unless we use captives in a 'Studio' set-up which removes the wild aspect.
I think in this instance you are being overly self critical.

Fair point mate, I guess I'm a bit of a perfectionist, but as you say with wildlife you can't always have things exactly as you want.
Thanks for the comments, very kind of you

| | | Re: Turnstone I have my own private beach which is frequented by Turnstones for all but a few summer months when they are away nesting. They are very shy around here and fly off before I can get really close up to them
Quite by accident I have discovered that if one pushes a wheelbarrow across the beach they almost completely ignore you almost to the point where they move out of the way to make room for the barrow.
Just thought someone may be interested.
