| | | Seasonal Abundance I am trying to think of any major seasonal events that are a must for wildlife photography.
For example: the puffins at Farnes in June, the rut in October (at Richmond park for some of us) and the seal cubs at Donna Nook in December.
Can anyone else think of anothers for me?
Thanks

| | | Re: Seasonal Abundance Grey Seal pups/ haulout on the Isle of May around sept/oct. Usually the last ferry before the service closes for winter.
Ganets on Bass Rock nearby May. I dunno what the restrictions are to getting there though...

| | | Re: Seasonal Abundance There are a mass of places that will contribute excellent images. I can think of a day at Minsmere in May for one, including Dunwich Heath (for the Dartford Warblers). Bempton Cliffs in Yorks for Puffins, Gulliemot, Razorbill, Gannet, Kittiwake etc. North and East Norfolk in Winter for the Skeins of Pink Footed Geese, Brent Geese and also wild Swans. Also huge concentrations of Wildfowl around Welney and the Ouse Washes. Weeting Heath from the beginning of April onwards for Stone Curlew and possibly close ups of Woodlark. The Scilly Isles in Autumn for major rarities and Spurn for the same reason. Red Kite at Gigrin Farm which include close ups of Buzzard and Raven
There are many more places you could go to for Birds (as you can see I am bird orientated) throught the country.
For Dragonfly, Damselflies etc Wicken Fen plus maybe Thursley (a meet is organised for here in June) could produce some stunning images.
Well that's my contribution to ideas.

| | | Re: Seasonal Abundance The Bass Rock is one of the best places to visit for Gannets and The Scottish Seabird Centre organise trips out in the summer. They are usually on a Monday and are quite expensive being £21 for about 45 minutes on the rock. The Farnes are also good for Arctic Terns and the occasional Sandwich Tern too. Also the usual suspect of Shags, Guillemots, Razonbills etc. |
