Oh bless - thank you - just catching up with threads other than my blow by blow recant of illness

Its an interesting read and I had realised from something else that some bother had happened which is a shame.
I don't know much about replacing skies - I've read about it in OP (the mag not the original poster!) but even with screenshots I struggle to understand some of it: I still never use layers - I don;t know how to - thats hard to believe isn't it but whenever I try I can never see any difference in the finished image? I'm probably not doing it right!!
I think everyone more or less knows my views by now on what I will and won't do to a photo - it all depends on how I feel at the time and what my brain thinks it saw down the barrel of the lens - I keep reasonably close to that. Any shots that require too much work I jettison no matter what the subject even if it means I have missed my chance with that species poss for 12 months sometimes. Its simple really my work is my work - I do it to please me first and foremost and if I know the end result is going to make someone go 'Wow' then its job done isn;t it.
As for artwork - well I got accepted at Bolton Art School way back in my youth but it seemed the only end result would be working as an art teacher and seeing as I hated school the first time round I'd no intention of spending the rest of my life in one - god no - it doesn't bear thinking about

So I went out and got a job - any job. My point is tho I must have had some ability and I did paint a lot when younger but I never wanted to sketch - I wanted to do finished work always and was a splendid 'copyist' which might be why I have an aptitude for digital photography simply because I can take a good base shot and improve on it later - sometimes
