They seem to like gravestones, I remember last winter I saw several all huddled together in cracks in the stones

| | | Re: Ladybirds Anyone else had hundreds and hundresd of 7 spot ladybirds in the last few weeks? I thought they may be harlequins, but they are all uniform & 7 spots so I am sure they are native. Black legs not brown.
They are all crowding into nooks and crevices. Are we due for a hard winter? Do they know something we don't?

| | | Re: Ladybirds I was in the Lee Valley about 2 weeks ago and while there were not hundreds of ladybirds there were certainly lots everywhere I looked.
Bishy barny bee - that is such a great name, Fengirl. Is it a particular fenland name? Do you know what bishy and barny mean?

Dave | It's certainly an East Anglian name - commonly used in Norfolk. I think it has to do with Bishop Barnabas.

| | | Re: Ladybirds Thanks for the info.
I couldn't find any links for a Bishop Barnabas, but found a suggested link on Wikipedia to a Bishop Edmund Bonner.
