| | | Olympus TCON 17 I'm looking at buying a TCON17 tele-extender to use on my Panasonic FZ50.
Can anyone here that has this combination tell me whether I need an adapter ring or anything to fit it to the FZ50? |

| | | Re: Olympus TCON 17 no you don't need an adaptor ring, it screws straight on the front of the lens (assuming the FZ50 lens has a 55mm thread the same as the FZ30, I'm fairly sure it does).

| | | Re: Olympus TCON 17 I think you'll both be pleased with the TCON, it gives a good amount of extra reach without a major loss of quality.

| | | Re: Olympus TCON 17 Something to remember, not always obvious is that you will need to take greater care to avoid camera shake when using the converter and also ensure that you have a quality tripod. It is worth noting that many DSLR lenses that offer equivilent focal length to what you will achieve with the TCON 17 have tripod bushes built on to the lense barrel and it is this factor that is often responsible for a significant part of the aparent improved performance that these lenses give over cheaper brands. Also bear in mind that camera shake can look like poor focusing so do not be too ready to blame the converter if you do not at first get the quality that you expect. (a hard lesson that I learnt when I used a Fuji7000 with a converter and later replaced the Fuji 7000 with a 9500).
