| | | Re: Bigma problem Are we in danger of losing track of the thread here?
I'm not one to deliberately play devils advocate, but, I can see both sides of the coin here.
I am a keen, if not particularly talented, amateur wildlife photographer, and I work in the IT industry so I am 'a bit of techie'. On that basis, I can normally follow what is being discussed in the photography forums, but I can see that those members who have other interests, be they insects, wild flowers or whatever else may not be as au-fait with some of the photographic terminology as the regular readers and contributors. Just as I have difficulty in understanding the finer points of advanced entomology, because it is not my specific area of interest.
This thread is almost at the point of name calling, are we not all grown up's here?

| | | Re: Bigma problem threads are going to get very tedious if we have to define every vaguely technical term that we use. We must have literally dozens of threads that have made reference to Bigmas, do we have to define it in every one?
What about when we talk about teleconverters, extension tubes, wideangle lenses, telephoto lenses, focal lengths, depth of field, apertures, etc etc. It is simply not practical for us to define these terms in each thread. Instead, I would hope WAB is sufficiently warm and welcoming to allow anyone who is unsure what we're talking about to simply ask.
