Quick release adapter
I had seen a mention of an inexpensive(ok cheap)plate and adaptor
I want to be able to swap my scope,camera over more quickly
I know there is some expensive kit out there but BUPA want a large
slice of my disposable income

I would check out Warehouse Express - Photographic Equipment, Digital Cameras, Lenses and Accessories they supply accessories for most tripods. You could buy a manfrotto base to fit your exisitng tripod and two qr plate relatively cheaply.
