| | | Heya Guys, new here Heya guys, iv been following this forum for about 2 months now after deciding to take A level Photography at College and on purchasing my new Nikon D50. Iv had a digital camera for a while and i know how to use all/most oft he features in a Digital SLR camera. I was just wondering if there is anything that i should know that i may not have got from just reading books and web sites. Ill be posting some of my pics on here soon and criticism would be apreciated greatly.
Yours Sincerely
Mark

| | | Re: Heya Guys, new here Hi Gahhl,
Welcome to WAB & your first post.
I will not offer to advise on photography because a: you have a better camera than I do. b: others involved in WAB are have far more experience than I.
When I put up some photos for criticism, I received some good useful comments.
Enjoy WAB and your new camera.

| | | Re: Heya Guys, new here Sorry Mark,
I can't help with the North West. My home is in Suffolk though I work in Essex (both East)
Hope you find some nice subjects soon, though I have not had much luck with light levels recently.
Must go now - have run out of lunch break!!!!!

| | | Re: Heya Guys, new here Use your camera as much as you can. Photograph anything and everything. If you want to photograph birds go to your local duck pond or somewhere where people feed the Ducks, Swans and seagulls, it will mean you can usually get close to them.Take lots of photos withe dfferent camera settings. When you get home look at your photos and decide which looks best. Get a little notepad and make a note of the camera settings and subject photographed ie. Swan, bright sunlight, camera settings. Carry the note pad around with you and when you want to take a shot look in the notepad for similar conditions. But don't stop experimenting. Also learn how to use an Image editing program which will help you improve some of your photographs.
Practise, practise and some luck.

Good advice from Dai, making notes about light etc, and of course take as many photos as possible there is usually one good one in there, (advice from Amateur Photograph 40 years ago) it usually holds good, Use to be expensive on film but today you can delete, I think it's marvellous.
And not to forget to welcome you to WAB.
Carol.
