| | | Photographing Moles Hi Everyone
I'm interested in photographing Moles and wondered if anyone has any tips or advice on how to achieve this?
I've read somewhere that they do come out of the ground at some point in the year to search for new territory but not sure when this is?
Any help is appreciated. |

| | | Re: Photographing Moles You may require a -07 exposure for the Black fur. They are very sensitive to vibrations such as footfalls (they track worms by their vibrations!) I see them in the Spring and after heavy rain or flooding (when they can move into gardens on higher ground) they come to the surface occasionally. They are quite reasonable swimmers as well by the way. I watch for fresh molehills then sit and wait, every now and again if you are lucky, it will heave dirt out of the tunnel and break surface in the mole hill direction of travel varies but the molehills dry off quite quickly and fresh ones show as darker soil.

| | | Re: Photographing Moles By all accounts the vast majority of photos taken by professionals are freshly dead moles that are found and posed to create the desired impression. Because their eyes are so small it is very hard to tell from the eyes if the creature is alive or not.
Cheers,

| | | Re: Photographing Moles I managed to capture a few images of a mole at Clumber Park in April 2008. More down to luck and possibly a very confused and disorientated mole!
I very much doubt you could plan a photo shoot with these creatures.
