Yes that is a funny story Alan and a good job you took the shot and didn;t delete it later - you just never know in this game but think of it this way - if you had 1,040 shots to pick a winner and runners up out of - and think of how high calibre the photos are these days - then one that makes you laugh is going to stick in the judges mind!  Something to think about while we are all getting so serious about photography and striving to produce world class images eh?

Your story made me laugh Fudgey, I quit smoking just over 10 years ago and I can still remember exactly how the nicotine withdrawal made me feel at times. I wasn't taking photos then, but probably did some of my best cross-stitch pictures to keep my hands occupied and my mind of the ciggies.

If I'm reading the graph correctly there were c. 50,000 image uploads to Birdguides in 2010, so to have your photo selected as a runner-up is a MAJOR achievement - something I would be really proud of.
