Savcom | It is indeed a question of physics, The clear windows of the flashguns do not get very warm because they allow the light to pass through. But the plastic film you are talking about you put there to absorb the light - it absorbs the light energy, it gets warm - possibly even hot enough to melt.

| | | Re: trail cameras That's correct. It depends on the exact nature of the material you put in the path of the light.
You could test the light-reducing and/or diffusing effect of other sheet materials for the trail camera by putting the material in front of some other (eg. hand torch) visiblelight light source because the invisible IR light is going to behave in roughly the same way.
