I am a student in Kingston University and for my project I am creating online British Bird Encyclopaedia. I found some useful information on this website, but I am not sure if I can use it. I read terms and conditions, but wanted to double check if I can use information such a birds names, description, photos etc in my work.

Hopefully the mods will help out. As far as I'm aware, copyright for any images belong to the photographer whom you will have to contact before using any images.

but generally speaking you can use a website for research - such as looking up bird names, and to help you write your own content - but lifting other peoples content verbatim is plaigarism, will be seriously frowned on by your tutors, and is usually a breach of copyright.

photos are as momji says copyright to whoever took them, tho many people will give permission if you ask them (for example so long as you are not making a profit from your work you can use any of mine (on a nonexclusive basis) - so long as you credit me (Pete Blyth) as the originator - If you are making a profit or planning to do so in the future i am still happy for them to be used but will require payment)
