Gee Whizz and crikey

Only just found this thread now I've gone all overawed and shy with all the thanks and plaudits

Thank you to everyone - I err - well I'm almost lost for words (now that is unusual

) I had no idea this thread existed cos I haven't been into the forums properly for a week or two - not wanting to get caught up and chatting when I should be down at mam's clearing her house .........
Yes Fudgey I saw you peeping pheasant and it made me laugh out loud its expression is so funny - its a cracking shot - and just shows you don;t need all the bird in view in order to win!
As for how long it took actionfinch - well it wasn't one of my marathon efforts for a change. The whole shoot was a couple of hours out of a long day visit over to the east side of the country. I had a lot of help from a good friend David Newby who lives 'over there' and has been following my photographic progress for 3 or 4 years at least. He took us to where the owls may show up (tho he had seen none the day before ...) and showed us where to wait - without his help we would not have been in the right place when the action did kick off! He also helped with settings on the camera - as you know I've been struggling to get BIF (birds in flight) since swapping to the 7D last July. And of course the 500 prime is not easiest of lenses to wave around trying to get locked onto flying birds! But when the lens and the camera get it together the results can be stunning - so I keep persevering - as many of you will know from my constant moaning about not getting the new camera under my control!
I've had a lot of help and advice from a variety of folk over the past few months, reading tutorials etc and changing all the 7D's settings till I;ve almost had to reset cos I've confused myself so much!
Winning BG's pic of the week is an achievement cos the standards of recent years have just gone up and up and so many folk now have - if not professional equipment - then the equivalent of - and folks are putting every ounce of effort and thought into their photography - so the quality goes up
Thanks once again
