my brother has a pic of a hoopoe he said he took in Spain I think he got it off the web lol
We did see a hoopoe but he didn't get a decent shot when I was there.  |

Saw one near Sheringham, on the norfolk coast, last year but it was distant. There are normally a few seen in the UK each year. |

Great photo indeed. I saw lots in Dubai, probing lawns around the house we were staying in and they were not shy at all. They were also somewhat smaller than I'd imagined, about the size of a blackbird perhaps. And what a great latin name they have: Upupa epops! |

That would be a photo to be proud of. To echo the rest I saw one in the Middle East but one was seen on parent's lawn in France a few years ago and my Dad saw one in the Channel Islands before then. Sadly they are rare visitors this fare north but no less extrordinary to look at. | | | |
