| | UK wildlife photography competition 2010 - category finalist! I took the plunge this year and entered five images in the 'Insects and bugs' category. I heard nothing, but today thought I'd go and see if the winners had been announced... and discovered that three of my images had made the finals of the category. Wildlife Extra - Wildlife Photography - UK wildlife photography competition 2010 winner and finalists - Insects and bugs
Didn't win, but I'm thrilled! Might even enter some more competitions one day! |

| | | Re: UK wildlife photography competition 2010 - category finalist! Well done.
Was amazed to see the winning shot (well deserved), the one below is one I took this summer (pic from my Gallery)
When comparing the two (a great way to learn) the main difference is in the winning pic both azures are sharp, the spiders eyes and the uncluttered background
Again well done |

Hey Rachel well done, it must be great to see your own images like that, just had a quick peep at your Flickr images as well, really great stuff, I will go back and have a true ganders later. Once again, congratulations, I LOVE reading posts like this as it makes me feel so happy for people like yourself as I know how I'd feel if it was me that had been short listed. Brilliant
(may even have a go at a compeition next year myself)

| | | Re: UK wildlife photography competition 2010 - category finalist! Thanks for the feedback - it's appreciated I have to confess I have very little idea what judges might look for so just entered ones I liked.
Riggy: nice to see your spider plus two damselflies - I've seen them with one but two, well, that's something I'd love to see for myself (and have a go at photographing - but probably wouldn't get it as well focussed as that winning image!).
al69: The ladybird one is the only one of my photos that I've had printed and framed, but haven't got round to putting on the wall yet...
turkeyneck: Go for it and have a go. I've had such a buzz from getting as far as I did Might take me a while to pluck up the courage again, though. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
