I dont know anything about the nikon but I have tested the sigma and was favourably impressed - I'm not buying one tho cos I'm a canon user so the 100-400 is in my sights

| | | Re: Which lens? As Eeyore says probably the 80-400 VR as the 200-400VR is much more expensive! I use a 300f2.8 AFS(non VR the earlier version) with a 1.7xtc, I think this lens is still more expensive though but it is a superb lens, with this on my D200 it is equilent to arond 700mm I think(off the top of my head, now where did I put that calculator) lol  I just checked and I was 65mm off lol, it is equivelent to 765mm! |

Mine is on the camera 80% of the time. It takes a pretty good portrait too...
