| | | Welney for photographers Has anyone been to WWT Welney and used the photographers' basement? Is it worth a look and did you get any good shots?
Thanks |

| | | Re: Welney for photographers Haven't heard of it, but it sounds intersting given my philosophy of getting down low! Is it new? I haven't been to Welney since 2006.

Dave P. | I had a similar reaction. I wish more reserves would take the photographer friendly approach. Ive had a quick search on google and flickr but cant find any examples of photos taken from the 'basement' |

| | | Re: Welney for photographers Yes, I feel it is our duty to investigate and what better way to do that than in the company of friends!
Plus I still haven't seen a whooper swan this year so a trip to Welney will fix that x several thousand!

| | | Re: Welney for photographers Sounds like a good place for a meet. Have found a bit more info from the WWT website. - The photography basement is for primarily professional photographers (I don't qualify as one but will ask anyway!)
- A minimum donation of £30 per person per day is requested on top of the admission fees.
- Access is at the discretion of the duty warden and must be pre-booked.
I'll email for further details and update you all when I hear.

| | | Re: Welney for photographers Ive photographed at welney , but not used the basement m(might be worth checking out when i can afford it) - actually I was at welney during the bird flu scare a few years back and I was the only person there so got very good access and undisturbed photography.
btw welney is bleddy miles from pensthorpe (thats closer to titchwell/ cley etc) but its very close to RSPB welches dam, and not that far from RSPB lakenheath

(Except for Tree Sparrows on the Ouse Washes feeders)

Jerry | I dunno - I got a very good picture of a GSWP at welches dam - I agree about the main hides tho. Its been a long time since i visited lakenheath but I believe there is the possibility of reasonably close up Oriole there (though obviously not at this time of year)
With regard to possible meets I'd also note that wicken fen isnt that far from welney either - but again that is better in the summer
