| | | Scanning electron microscope I thought this image was going to be something I've never seen before, I was more than surprised, when I read what it was. Creepy crawlies: Amazing Scanning Electron Microscope pictures of insects and spiders - Telegraph
I think it was the teeth that confused me.
There's some fantastic images on this site, I love the beautiful Pollen ones best. |

| Don't know that SEM can really be called 'Amateur', although I believe the late Lord (Victor) Rothschild had one in the stables of his estate. |

| | | Re: Scanning electron microscope I used to work an electron microscope, not a scanning one, but it was the best job ever, like entering a different reality. Metallurgy, not biology, but still totally fascinating.
I love these pictures.

Sorry, John D.

Sorry, John D. | Meta, I think you will find that Rose Lynn-Fisher (it was her work I referred to) is very much a PROFESSIONAL Photographer. The AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHY magazine (dated 30 October) had a few pages which featured her recent work. Her projects have spanned 17 years in the lab with the use of a SEM.
I would also suggest that there will be other PROFESSIONAL photographers involved in labs where a SEM is used. It is surprising where you will find PROFESSIONAL photographers.
I should add that the image produced by a SEM is not in fact a photograph as we know it, ie from a camera. However according to the article she does process the images in Photoshop.
More info on SEM can be obtained via GOOGLE.
