| | | MR14 EX Macrolite Does anybody know how this attaches to the front of lenses and whether or not it only fits Canon lenses.
Thanks

I have just been sent one but Canon state certain models it is compatible with. I only have a 105 Siggy though, but that has the same thread as the MP E65 so I guess if you are correct it should fit.
Cheers Graham

Cheers Graham | I'll keep my fingers crossed then. I can't imagine why it shouldn't fit. Canon aren't going to advertise that it'll work with Sigma lenses. I think it's more a matter of size than anything else, provided your lens od isn't too large, it should fit OK. |

| | | Re: MR14 EX Macrolite I'm guessing it uses the same system as the MR24 EX, I've got one of those and that fits to my Sigma macro lenses via an adaptor that screws into the filter thread so you should be fine.

Super, thanks Rob. Do you use yours for Macro work and if so what kind of subject and do you rate it?

I'm still getting used to it but the results seem pretty good so far. There are lots of settings to experiment with and I keep forgetting to write down exactly what I did. This is one taken using it where I had one of the units off the lens behind the flower to give some rim lighting and the other provided fill-in from the front
All the best

like Rob says, you shouldn't have a problem.
I also use the MR24-EX and I was impressed with the results.
They both clip onto Canon EF lenses with no adaptors, but to use it on other lenses ( I use a Tamron 90 with 55mm thread) you need an adaptor ring from canon. The two closest to your lens are 58mm or 52mm.I then had to get a 58mm-55mm stepping ring from Jessops to fit the adaptor ring to my lens.

Neil | Thanks Guys
Both filter sizes (on the 105 Siggy and 50 mil f1.4 Canon) are 58 mil so I bought a couple of Canon ML/ADAP58 Macrolite Adapter 58mm. I hope they do the trick.
