| | | Canon Sensor Cleaning Hey guys,
I just started the integrated CMOS cleaning thingy in my 350D, I looked in my manual and checked out how long it took but it didn't tell me. "Clean" appears on the LCD display and in a later step it says just switch the thing off to stop cleaning. However, in a big warning box below this (page 40) it says - during cleaning never: switch the power to off etc...
Does the "Clean" message disappear eventually? It's been going for about 20 mins now or do I just flick the thing to off?
Not wanting to damage my sensor and all and my battery is slowly dying.

| | | Re: Canon Sensor Cleaning Chris. The 350D does not auto clean. When you remove the lens and push the button the mirror locks up. You need then to blow the sensor with a rocket blower or similar to get rid of the dust on the sensor. Once you have done that you turn the camera off and replace the lens.
Dont remove the lens with the power on.
Always make sure your batteries are fully charged during cleaning as, if the battery dies, and you have something in the chamber, the mirror will lock down and trap whatever is in the chamber, possibly damaging the mirror
