Took these shots today of volucella pellucens,a large hoverfly.While trying to photograph them on bramble flowers,i realised there were far more having aerial territory battles above my head.i zoomed in with the macro lens to get some unusual shots.Not the easiest shots to get because they can move faster than you can believe.    |

I did exactly the same today!!! Love the the lantern quality of the light shining through(?) the waist of this species...

Hi olly,yes put the photo,s up.Was it hoverflies you were shooting aswell ? |

I managed a photo of a hoverfly in flight many moons ago and I was delighted with the result. How I did it I don't know.   |

I think by unusual he meant by pointing the lens up though and using a macro lens for longer shots...? |
