| | | A day at Minsmere I had a good day at Minsmere yesterday.
I saw 73 bird species in all, including the French wing-tagged Montagu's Harrier that's been there for a few days. It's a long-distance view, I know - but here it is.
Every time it took to the air, almost the whole Scrape got up in a cacophony of alarm calls.
Amongst the Black-headed Gulls on the Scrape was this single sub-adult Little Gull.
If you're familiar with Minsmere, you may recognise this location. You can often see Swallows at the sluice at the southern end of the reserve, and this is a popular perch.
Another common sight at Minsmere is the Konik ponies. I guess that this is the latest addition to the herd.
Finally, here's the sunset from the Island Mere Hide. |

Yesterday they had moved off out of sight, presumably into the reeds closer to Eastbridge.
I missed the Montagu's yesterday - it had gone down to the dunes around Sizewell; did get the Temmincks and crane earlier in week though.
Island mere can be great for photos when the light is right!! Nice piccies. |
