| | | British Wildlife Photography Awards 2010 entries close June 4 by post or online. 3 images per category.
1 image: £7
5 images : £15
10 images £20
files under 250kb but be prepared to have to send RAW file on a CD.
Be nice if someone here won a category - preferably me

Last year The Black Rabbit was in the prizes but he hasn't posted here since September 2008.

| | | Re: British Wildlife Photography Awards 2010 Thanks Dave (and Posie who made me aware of this thread).
It was very nice indeed what happened to me in last years inaugral BWP awards.
This year they are making a book from the winning entries, which would be a nice bonus for any winners.
This year I'm not sure if I have the time to even submit anything by June.
I was in the Maldives last year when it was announced that they'd shortlisted all my images - so had to cross my fingers big time when I got back and sent my RAW CD off a little late. To anyone that enters - please make sure someone is checking your email account when they announce the shortlisted images, and have a RAW CD already made up for someone else to send on your behalf, if you are on holiday at the time.
My only trouble was I was out of internet range AND phone range on that Maldivian Island (quite deliberately) and panicked like a nutter when I got back.
Anyway, all worked out ok.
Very good luck to all that enter.

Seriously, congrats on a well deserved award and it's good to know you're still in the clover. It's always a little worrying when a valued member goes quiet...

Dave P. | Still lurking (deep) in that clover Dave.
Many thanks again and hope to see your name in this year's awards!

| | | Re: British Wildlife Photography Awards 2010 I tried last year as well, but no joy.
Will give it another go as I've taken better shots since (in my eyes anyway!). |

| | | Re: British Wildlife Photography Awards 2010 I've been thinking about this but don't consider my images to have the "wow" factor, even if they are technically OK. I'd be interested to see the images that Black Rabbit was successful with though - are they posted here at all?
I do have some time off at start of May so hopefully will have more time to get out with this in mind.
Good luck to everyone who is submitting!

| | | Re: British Wildlife Photography Awards 2010 I've been a member of a local camera club for the past few months, and have entered lots of my wildlife stuff into their competitions, it at least gives me an idea of which ones are better in other peoples eyes as well as my own
The ones that have done well are the ones that I'm going to try in some of the bigger competitions this year. Putting shots on ephotozine can give you a good idea as well from the number of votes they get, although I'm not always so keen on their system as often techically good but non-wow "bird on stick" shots seem to dominate a bit!
I've got one particular Red Kite shot that I've got a good feeling about this year...it's made it into the 2010 Welsh Salon of Photography and is currently on display in Swansea this month as part of the exhibition, which I'm over the moon with !!
Admittedly it's not on a par with Andy Rouse et al, so I don't think the regular Wildlife Photographer of the Year winners have anything to worry about, but it's what I consider to be the best shot I've taken to date so I'm happy with it
Would love to see Black Rabbits successful entries as well, just to give me something to aspire to |

| | | Re: British Wildlife Photography Awards 2010 definitely has to be something different and not just a technically perfect shot. The flock of starlings above a petrol station at night by Lorne Gill is a good example, both accomplished and atmospheric with telling contrast of subjects.
Then again the two highly commended in Hidden Britain I would consider bog standard macros that I would post on a forum but would not be particularly proud of. The damsel silhouette that won is fine though. Winners 2009 - BWPA - British Wildlife Photography Awards | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
