| | | New Forest Braving the crowds and wet weather at Easter Hi all
I have decided to brave the crowds and get a few days out in the New Forest over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend despite the weather forcast and wondered if anyone had any ideas for photography locations I have been to Blashford lakes which will be on my list again and the Deer at Boulderwood.
I know a few of the Forestry Commision car parks can be good for common woodland birds too.
I have no real wish list as its a bonus break for me.
Any info would be great.
Cheers

One place worth checking out is the New Forest reptile centre about 5mins down the main road from the Bolderwood Road. Its got captive reptiles and a walk with wild ones about. But it opens either at or after easter so you'll have to check |

Thanks.
P.s Been following your blog and your getting some great shots especially the fighting Coot's.
Wish I could get out more !

| | | Re: New Forest Braving the crowds and wet weather at Easter The Reptile Center opens on thursday. The Goshawk nestcam will be on display there too.
You can also see the not so common birds in the Forest too - Hawfinch, Firecrests, Crossbills, Dartford Warblers, Woodlarks, Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers etc. |

| | | Re: New Forest Braving the crowds and wet weather at Easter Hatchet Pond is a good place to visit, there's a pair of fairly inquisitive resident swans. Heathland around the pond, but parts of it will be very wet.
There's a good circular walk down the road opposite, and then turn left and left again to get back to the road. It passes through both hardwood and conifers, and you'll spot leftovers from the airfield if you're lucky. I can send you a map location if you like.
If you park at Keyhaven you can walk along the sea wall with the marsh to the outside and Salterns inland, always good for waders. Cross along a path to the old road to walk back to Keyhaven and you'll find a small lake to the north of the road - not many people bother to stop and look, and in the summer it's screened with vegetation.
Roydon Woods is HWT, there are maps and suggested walks on their website. |

Should be plenty to keep me busy there.
