| | | Canon 500mm - Wimberley Head I've been saving to buy my dream lens, the Canon 500mm and now I can finally buy it!!
As I previously only owned the 70-200 lens the tripods and heads are all new to me. I've read a lot about these, and eventually decided on the following;
Wimberley Head Mk II
Gitzo GT3530LS Series 3 Systematic Tripod
The clamp/plate business is very confusing, and I would appreciate your help. From what I gathered the Wimberley Head Version II has a built-in, Arca-Swiss style quick-release clamp. In order to use the head, the lens must be equipped with an Arca-Swiss style lens plate. As I'm buying the 500mm the plate that I will need is the p-40. Is this correct?
Appreciate your help
Thanks / Diolch

You are correct, I have the same set up but I have Version 1 of the Wimberley, whilst version 2 has an already built in QR plate pretty much all version 1 wimberley's sold second-hand will also have a QR plate...........not matter what type you buy you will need an arca type lens plate such as the P40 as you say

They import their gear.
I've not used them so I can't vouch for them but they claim to pay the import taxes and VAT -
"Our products are sourced from the USA, UK, Hong Kong and France. Any VAT and Duty charges issued by the courier will be prepaid by us."
There are some very positive and one bad but comical reviews here - Reviews for Panamoz www.panamoz.com
