| | | replacement Panasonic FZ30 Hello!
well I've had a look on the panasonic website and I can't see a replacement for the panasonic FZ30 (bridge camera) can anyone recommend an equivalent? Or point out if I have missed something? |

Try the Panasonic FX38, though have a good look through the specifications. It seems good...
Take care, Jason |

| | | Re: replacement Panasonic FZ30 Yes Panasonic DMC-FZ38 would be the natural current replacement for the FZ30, I bought one in August 2009 to replace my DMC-FZ20.
It's small enough to put into an overcoat pocket and so I carry mine almost everywhere. This is just a small part of an original image taken with the FZ38, I'm trying to add some more to the image library. Hopefully they will upload eventually, I had to reduce the quality a bit because the original jpegs were around 7mb each.
Caveats:
It is flimsier than older Panasonic bridge cameras; low light performance is better than my FZ20, but not as good as I would like; jpegs sometimes seem to be overprocessed, but you can shoot RAW (RW2); unlike my FZ20 the maximum aperture drops from 2.8 to 4.4 at maximum zoom, this is still better than most superzoom cameras.
BTW Panasonic list the DMC-FZ38 under superzoom digital cameras, not bridge.

| | | Re: replacement Panasonic FZ30 Hi
Actually the panasonic fz50 was the direct replacement for the fz30,but that has now even been discontinued.
So the most logical upgrade would be the fz38 which gives you 18x optical zoom..high def video mode with sound and zoom capability while recording.
leica designed optics and new IA intelligent auto mode for scene recognition.
any more help give me a tinckle.
i work in digital camera centre,
thanks gaz |

For some reason Panasonic have not replaced the FZ30/50. Although those mentioned above are similar beasts, the great thing about the 30/50 was that the lens did not move externally when focussing or zooming. Great in the field!
For the newer models the Raynox will fit but supplementary screw-fit lenses require an adaptor.
Shame on Panasonic
All the best
