Where to Photograph kingfishers

Hi Everyone.......

I am an amateur wildlife photog & I am hoping some kind person here can point me to a place [in the south of England] where I can snap a Kingfisher? I had a pair near me but have not seen them for a couple of years now I have a small hide & patience If you know of somewhere that you have photographed them or have seen them perched up, could you please let me know? I dearly would love to get a shot of this beautiful bird, thanks

I can't help you re locations I'm afraid as I live in Yorkshire.

Sorry if this is patronising and you already know all about it but do you know about the law and photographing kingfishers? There have been threads in the past about this. I think the gist of it is that it is an offence to disturb them by photographing near their nest.

I've not been there often but Sevenoaks Nature Reserve has some that are seen (and photographed) fairly regularly.

Thanks for your replies guys Wizzo, I live near Thorpe Park Surrey, I just stumbled across this & it seems they are only 5 minutes from me Pentok Hook Island is not habitated so when i get time I will go across there:

Hi!

Sevenoaks Nature Reserve is a good bet. I have been there a number of times, and each time managed to get a few sightings. During my first visit I managed to get a few decent shots :-)

There is also a place in Kent called Wakehurst Place which is a National Trust Place and apparently it is relatively easy to spot and photograph kingfishers there. Never been there though.
