| | | Winter wildlife photography in the New Forest I am off to the New Forest next week for a few days and would like to do some wildlife photography. Has anyone got any suggestions for some places to go and what might be out and about at this time of year? |

| | | Re: Winter wildlife photography in the New Forest Popped up there today. At Bolderwood there were treecreepers, goldcrest (possibly a firecrest) and a flock of crossbills. There were some fallow deer in the fields around the feeding area. |

Sounds like a great day out - I keep promising myself a day out of the workshop...maybe tomorrow (repeat till fade)
cheers

| | | Re: Winter wildlife photography in the New Forest So many places you could go to in the New Forest.
Hen Harriers, Great Grey Shrikes, Merlin & Peregrine, about on the large tracts of heathland as well as Dartford Warblers, Stonechats, Meadow pipits & Linnets.
All the usual birds about in the woodlands with highlights like Crossbill, Hawfinch, Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Bramblings, Goshawk & Sparrowhawk (lots of Sparrowhawks seem to have moved through the Forest this winter).
Blackwater Arboretum is an easy place to see Hawfinches coming in to roost - Bramblings, Redpolls, Crossbill & Bullfinches are usually seen with the occasional Lesser Spotted Woodpecker & Great Grey Shrike making an apperance if your lucky while you wait for the Hawfinches.
Deer include Fallow, Roe, Red & Sika with the occasional Muntjac here & there. Fallow & Roe are all over the place, Red & Sika are restricted with the Red around Brockenhurst & the Sika east of Brockenhurst. |
