I'm sure you'll get used to it grey squirrel (that's a fairly controversial title in a place like this ). I was a little puzzled by it all at first but then came to the realisation that, as in people, if all forums were the same it would be a dull world. I don't remember telling anyone I was going to avoid them, though....

My favourite forum (photographic) allows good sized images to be displayed without links - but that's just the way it was set up and there are rules to keep it running smoothly.

Boddie has spared a lot of time to explain the situation to you , which is more than a lot of people would on some forums!

I appreciate Boddies replies but (as is the problem with the internet) there seemed to be a very self righteous undertone which I am not used to from any forum I've ever been on. I can understand why it is done but I am not keen on being ridiculed for not agreeing. Each to their own, as I said in my second post, now let's let this go.
