Any info on which are best and cheap suppliers etc? | These are a good price and are equivalent to the 'Eneloop' batteries: 7dayshop.com - Online Store

| | | Re: Camera for good close ups of wildlife I now have a Cannon Powershot, can anyone recommend a good battery charger as the camera uses a lot of batteries. Also are all AA batteries rechargeable? |

i'm no expert so for mine i just bought the cheapest recharger from my local maplin - a uniross sprint 90 with maplins own rechargeable batteries. they seem fine but you may want to go with one of the other suggestions above.

The reason most people use standard (non rechargeable) batteries is the tendency for rechargeables to lose their charge over a period when stored. This is why I recommended eneloops as they retain 95% of their charge after a years storage so you can keep a fully charged back up set with you and be confident that they will work when you put them in the camera.
It is also more environmentally friendly to use rechargeables rather than keep sending spent batteries to landfill. |

| | | Re: Camera for good close ups of wildlife As Mike Jackson says, you can now get AA rechargeables that hold their charge for a long time. It is always annoying to find that the batteries that you recharged a week ago have now lost their charge again! According to these ones that I found on Maplins website (just as an example - I haven't used these) they work down to -10C as well. Standard rechargeable AAs would have stopped working well before that temperature. Hybrid - The Next Generation Rechargeable Battery : Rechargeable Batteries : Maplin |
