Of course I don't mind, I'm flattered that you'd consider adding it!
The wildlife etiquette in hides isn't my strong point as I rarely visit them, but many of our wonderful photographers spend lots of time in them and will be sure to help you out!

| | | Re: Edicate calling all WABs Its a shame you could never have gone out with the Pork Pie Posse as they could have shown you first hand the etiquette observed whilst we were in hides.
I particularly used to enjoy Marks 'Ring of Fire' ringtone, which always provided a positive response.
What, in particular, has been troubling you? |

| | | Re: Edicate calling all WABs I don't know about any particular etiquette. Surely it is down to good manners (which is sadly lacking today). I have been in a birdwatching hide and people have already been in there so I keep quiet. If they should start talking to me about what is around then I join the conversation. Other times I have been first and it is usually children that come in and I try to encourage them to see what is out there. Although I must admit some of them come in quite noisily and frighten everything away. I am not a serious birder but I try to respect those that are. |

There was a frightful old hag practically attacking the children on our fungus foray at the weekend. She didn't find any at all - they were pretty much all found by children. |

| | Re: Edicate calling all WABs Hi every one, personally after years of birding and tippy toeing around, I find that most people would like to quietly talk and share their knowledge and what is about. When I'm going into a hide (quietly) and finding a place, I simply ask what's about more often than not someone will tell you. You can soon get the feel of the people around, whether they are experienced or not. If they are not then they appreciate you pointing out stuff.
