| | | Re: Confused WAB does things a bit differently to other sites, there are basically two types of photo. Top quality ones for the Gallery, and Image Library photos for adding to forum posts, seeking help with ID's etc.
The following thread explains how to upload to either section and how to add photos to forum posts. http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...otos-info.html |

| | | Re: Confused Thank you friend, but as all my photos are resized at 800x600 and hosted in my own Gallery, it would mean an extra process to resize the images for WAB i dont want to do that as i dont want a pleasure to turn into a chore so i will gracefully leave and i thank you all for having me...Ray |

| | | Re: Confused Please dont gie up - you have been able to enter things for ID because there is no check on those, but photos entered to the Gallery are looked at by the modrators to see that the identification is correctly entered (as it is a wildlife resource) and that the quality is of a high standard. (Dont take this as meaning yours wont please ) as the ones for Id are obviously great. So if you can see a reserved place in the Gallery with a message above it (I cant think what it says now!) it means yours is waiting for a verdict. The only problem is that you arent told why, if it fails and that causes lots of angst

| | | Re: Confused Just a thought. Uploading to the main best quality Gallery is a 2 stage process. I sometimes come unstuck by failing to correctly complete the second stage and can't find my photos; until I work backwards and discover them still in my queue.
For me, the main danger then, is that I accidentally upload 2 copies.
Most of us had a bit of a struggle here at first but if you stick with it a little bit longer everything will make sense eventually.
ps. I'm a member of a photo forum which won't take direct uploads so we have to link from another personal holding site. I use Pbase. Creating those links really did confuse me; and I still get it wrong sometimes.

If you don't want to resize your photos you can still upload them to the Image Library- details here: - http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...tml#post546421
800x600 (landscape format) can also be uploaded to Gallery, provided that the required naming standards are adhered to. Unfortunately, the minimum horizontal number of pixels for the Gallery is 800, so if any of your images are 600x800, they will automatically be disallowed.
Regards,
Mike. |
