| | | Wildlife Photography Career Hi,
I'm new to the forum, have just joined today!
I was wondering whether anyone can give me some tips and advice on how to begin a career in wildlife photography? I know this is a hard area to get into, but that doesn't mean it isn't achieveable!
Do you think that doing a specialised course in wildlife photography would be a good idea, or whether it would be best to just get out there and shoot?! I already have a degree in photography. I also think entering competitions would be a good thing to do. Can anybody recommend any current competitions?
Thanks |

| | | Re: Wildlife Photography Career Hello Cat first of all welcome to the site as to your question on career choice yes its a hard area to get into unless you are recognised and the only way to do that is like you said is to enter as many competitions as possible.
Another thing is to start and build up a portfolio of your best work and you would have to be highly critical of this no use putting in fillers just to make other work look good all the work that you display would have to be first class.
As to how you go about it I think is going to be competion wise byu entering as many as you can if you do a google for photographic competions it should throw something up also you could also try by putting stock up to a site like photographersdirect who take a small percentage for their fee but a quite fair .
What ever you decide best of luck

| | | Re: Wildlife Photography Career Hi Bill,
Thanks for the advice. I've just had a look at the photographersdirect website and they seem very fair and as if they offer a good service. I'll start to have a look at what competitions are about at the moment, and go from there | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
