| | | Targets Just wondering if you set targets for specific animals, birds, insects, fauna etc or if you just go out and see what you can snap. Once I've got a really good kingfisher I'm setting myself a difficult challenge, bullfinch and an otter. I know it's going to be a long haul, but I'm a determined person & confident I'll get them in the end. |

| | | Re: Targets I have a 'wish list' which is always on the back of my mind
Then when something on that list finally comes to the top and demands I take notice I may make a target and go to places where I think I might find that 'thing'
While working it was difficult and since retiring (and taking on the care of my mother full time) its still difficult if that something is at opposite ends of the country
But I have managed more holidays this year and plan to get out and about locally more often ........ I set targets in winter - what time of year and where something is available but rarely get to achieve it - so its generally 'point and press' taking advantage of whatever stays still long enough

| | | Re: Targets I tend to work 'the other way' and select an area which hasn't been recorded previously, usually relatively small, then try to photograph everything there over an extended period.
The downside is that instead of concentrating on a few species I am attempting to identify such a wide range of species that I try to be a Jack of All Trades in identification. And, of course, end up being 'Master of None'.
Thankfully this site compliments my books and web links so I usually get somewhere close to an answer, eventually. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
