| | | Lackford Lakes Hi all.
Not sure if this is a bit last minute but just managed to get tomorrow off work and thought I would try my luck for Kingfishers at Lackford Lakes.
Having only visited there once before any info on which hides would be best would be much apprieciated.
Regards

I popped down there the other evening and saw one from The Bernard Tickner hide (that's the one off the path to the right of the Visitor Centre), where there were also half a dozen Green Sandpipers. I've never seen one from there before, but did see a Water Rail there a couple of evenings later. Also saw Kingfisher on a perch right outside the small new hide - don't know it's name, but if you walked alongside the sailing lake then round to the right, it's the one just there on your left. Again, never seen one there before, and this was late evening. Tried again a couple of evenings after, but no luck. I always used to reckon that the two-tier hide was good, and someone said that if you go past that one and carry on through the trees then go to the left and to the hide at the end, that's a good one for kingfishers - he saw one 3 times in half an hour. Hope you have a good time, and let us know how you get on. |

| | | Re: Lackford Lakes Hi Jonners
Had a good day at Lackford.
Spent 8 hrs in the small new hide plenty of Kingfisher action but only landed on the close perches once. A great veiw of a Merlin and a pair of Water Rails
were very active along the far bank.
Thanks for the info.
