Nice pics I have not seen one yet 
It is a migrant Hummingbird Hawk although we also have two types of native Bee hawkmoth.

I've previously tried, with varying degrees of failure, to photograph these. Well done Jon. Was this in Suffolk too? If so, it's good to know there are some around |

All shots were taken at Minsmere Yesterday same place as the Broad Bordered Bee Hawkmoth, Also present White Admiral! This was just after I was photographing Purple Emperors!! a couple of miles away, What a great week! |

Great stuff!
I've only seen one a couple of years back - one local and one at the Red Kite place near Aberystwith.
There's something a bit shrimpish about that back end isn't there?

And the purple emperors were only in the tree tops.
