| | | Stubborn Dust Hi everyone,
I'm always very careful when swapping lenses but inevitably some dust gets on to the sensor. Up to now I have been using an air blower to clear it and that's been working fine. However, I seem to have picked up a couple of spots that won't shift by blowing. Not sure what's best to do from here. I know you can get extremely fine brushes. Is that my next move?
Thanks

| | | Re: Stubborn Dust you can also get mains powered blowers that make the rocket look puny , however be aware that it is very easy to blow dust onto the sensor.
You can get a range of cleaning kits but my advice is to have it professionally cleaned , fixation in london (vauxhall) will do it while you wait for 25 folding

| | | Re: Stubborn Dust Also have the Rocket blower. Like Boddie said, it clears most dust without the need for brushes or swabs. |

| | | Re: Stubborn Dust When I clean my sensor. I use a rocket blower to clean out the mirror box first and then use Eclipse fluid and sensor swabs for the sensor. Piece of cake after the first heart attack

| | | Re: Stubborn Dust That sounds more like it. London is a bit of a trip for me, plus I hate the place. I'm sure there are closer but as I've only had the camera 3 months I'm sure this is going to be a common occurence. For info my blower is a rocket blower, one of those Giotto thingies |

| | | Re: Stubborn Dust Pluck up the courage and do as kev said. After you have used Eclipse fluid and sensor swabs for the first time you will wonder what all the fuss was about. Just take your time. I had to do it 4 times before I realised how much pressure you can put on the swab ( about the same pressure as writing with a pencil). Don't forget you can get dust at any time so you could be paying out a lot of money in a year if you take it to a shop.

| | | Re: Stubborn Dust Have you tried cleaning the mirror as well as the sensor? I used to forget to do the mirror sometimes and this is often where the dust is. I seem to have to use mirror lock up a lot these days even though I take care when changing a lens theirs always something that gets in | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
