| | | re: photos on to canvas? Hello will putting images onto canvas is normaly done by the photographgic retailers who send them away to be done and can be quite expensive .If I remember right they enlarge thepic to the size required then take the top layer and stretch it across the canvas .
It will pay to search the internet or look into the photo mags they carry ads for this type of service best of luck,I had one done years ago of my daughter in the days of film and there was no loss of photographic quality then.

| | | re: photos on to canvas? Hi there Will. Have a look in the amateur photographer mag, lots of ads in there!
You can send images via the internet and will then be inkjet printed on to digital canvas at high quality. Most can colour correct to get best quality for your image. They'll give you guidelines as far as set up is concerned. Just give them a ring.
Don't go to the high street. You'll pay over the odds and at a lesser quality. Let the pro's do it.
regards.

| | | Re: photos on to canvas? Not sure if it is still available, but Jessops used to do this. And I have bought inkjet canvas from them and printed it myself. Not recently, which is why I'm not sure if it is still available. |

| | | Re: photos on to canvas? Deviant Art, where I sell my work do canvases of your prints as well - and the best bit is, you as the artists can get it done at 'cost'.

My daughter some of her whale and dolphin photos
this way as presents and for selling. The results
are stunning. They look like very detailed oil
paintings. |

| | | Re: photos on to canvas? with a bit of work you can do them yourself at less cost than printing to half decent photo paper i do
i'l explain...
to buy a roll of canvas isn't that pricey plenty of places sell it at around 40 quid a roll ( 24" X 49 feet ) then you need to cut it into a size your printer will accept ( A3 or A4 ) most things you read tell you about pigment based inks and this is really what you need for canvas printing bla bla
the good news is most of the newer printers from the likes of epson and canon are pigment based so no worries there
if you are still using a dye based inkjet printer ie a canon s9000 ( like i do ) or one of its smaller siblings it doesn't matter the results i get are very good
so after a bit of fiddling you now have your pride and joy onto canvas and want to mount it
get yourself down to the local pound store and look for some blank mounted canvas most of em sell em for a quid or so each
discard the blank canvas and staple your own in its place
job done
ok there's a bit of messing and you have to take into account the amount of canvas your gonna need to wrap around the border but the end result is worth it and it's all your own work
i think the canvas roll is 2ft wide by 49ft long if you do a bit of maths ( and a bit of thought on how you cut it ) it works out at just a couple of quid per a4 canvas and around 3 quid for a 12 x 16 ( a3 ) framed using cheapo frames or you could allways make your own frame |

| | | Re: photos on to canvas? I wouldn't worry too much about distortion - I've had a few photos printed up onto canvas, and they've all turned out fine from that point of view. The things you want to watch out for though are whether the image wraps around the frame (you'll lose the edges of the image) or not (the sides are left as blank white canvas), and the size of the frame (which matters for how much photo is wrapped \ how much white space you have), and whether the company applies a finishing lacquer (makes it shiny and helps protect it).
In Glasgow, I use a local printer called 2canvas, but have also used the Art store who were very good, but more expensive. Canvases are pretty common now, so as long as you check what you're getting and go with a reputable company you should be fine. |
