| | | Camera for macrophotographs I can't find any recent comment, recommendations etc.
I'm looking for a one-piece camera which is good for macros of insects, flowers and smaller things. I would like a big rechargeable battery; 12 megapix; take flash card; preferably the option of fitting ringflash. Price up to £400.
All suggestions gratefully considered before I go down to the camera shop on Monday! |

| | | Re: Camera for macrophotographs Have a look at this thread: - What SLR for wildlife photography?
The Fuji S100FS, and the new Nikon P90 bridge cameras are excellent all rounders, both having pretty good macro facility. And are just two of many such available cameras.
Your only other option is to go for a DSLR, but you would spend upwards of £1000.00 easily, and would still have to spend more to get a decent DSLR system with wide-angle, telephoto, and macro lenses.
Regards

Jim | Snake uses the Fuji S100FS - Here's a link to his WAB Gallery: - snake Gallery - Wild About Britain Pics
And most of my pics on WAB, have been taken with a Fuji S9600, which is the fore-runner of the S100FS Here's a link to my WAB Gallery: - Lancashire Lad Gallery - Wildlife Photography

| | | Re: Camera for macrophotographs Thanks Mike for the other advice. Just to clarify, I'm not really interested in telephotos and the rest - so as a last resort might even just get body with macro lens and a pocket Koda for snapping the scenery! Quote:

| | | Re: Camera for macrophotographs Thanks; yes, G10 looks very good and has a 'proper' battery. Seems to be more or less a replacement for what I've lost. Interesting that the reviewer considers the nearest competition to be the Nikon Coolpix P6000: I do have a preference for Nikon and this is £60 cheaper than the Canon!
Harrisons have the G10 in stock so I'll nip down on Monday. Others that seem to fit the bill are the Fuji Finepix S5800 at £147 and the Sony Cybershot H9 at £249. Anyone tried these? Quote:

| | | Re: Camera for macrophotographs If you get one of the bridge cameras (a good bet) another neat addition would be a raynox DCR 150 macro adaptor, with which many wabbers get great results and iots only £30 to £40 too |

Sorry, to save me a lot of webbing - I'm not really up-to-date with photo jargon - what is a 'bridge camera' (one in between a pocket camera and a 'proper' DSLR?). Which of the 'bridge cameras' would take a macro adaptor?

| | | Re: Camera for macrophotographs Have you considered a DSLR?
Looking on eBay, it may well be possible to pick up a good DSLR, Olympus E510 as an example, and a Sigma 105mm macro lens for around £400.
A combination like this would also give you the option to add additional lenses as and when you want in order to expand your photography to other subjects.
