Urgent help needed

I have just been to view my local junk auction. They have a Praktica MLT3 old film camera with a selection of lenses. The best is a 500mm. It has a screw fitting, so am I going to be able to use it on my DSLR?

you can uses any lens on any camera if you can get an adapter or use a tube and some tape ,you may find this is a mirror lens and not a good optic but try it probably will be worth a go what you will get in terms of image is any ones guess but if you pay no more than a £5 is probably worth a try (on balance i probably wouldn't risk my dslr with it)

The acid test is how much money can you afford to drop if it doesn't work or the lenses are rubbish. But you could always sell it again in two months time!

You'd really need an adapter (which you could probably get made) for accurate centring.

you can buy adaptor rings for nikon and canon bodies that will allow the lens to be fitted. You may lose focus at infinity, you will definately lose aperture control and AF. You should be able to use the dslr in Av mode or full manual. Typical price on ebay is £10-15

incidentally does your local junk auction feature anything bellows fronted such as knackered LF cameras ? I'm after butchering a scanner for deviant art photography as per another thread
