| | | Locations in Hertfordshire Hi all,
Does anyone know of some good locations to see wildlife in and around Hertfordshire? I've spent lots of time around Lee Valley area photographing birds. Also quite a few visits to Woburn to shoot the deer. Just looking for other decent places to visit.
If anyone closeby would like to meet up for a days excursion that would be good too

| | | Re: Locations in Hertfordshire Hi Paul, The best place I have been is Wormley Wood, approached from the south side. I saw all sorts there, including a fairly close view of a Muntjac.

| | | Re: Locations in Hertfordshire Check out the local Nature Trust guide to their reserves. There are some nice ones to the North, near Biggleswade on the river for example, and on the Cambridgeshire border. Epping Forest too! Oh and to the south west there are the various lakes whose name escapes me but they are not far from Denton, and Harefield, near the M25. |

Nearby Ivinghoe Beacon is good for wildflowers (chalk downland varieties) and a few butterflies, if you're interested in those. Close by is Incombe Hole, which gets Ring Ouzels on migration especially in Spring.
The reservoirs at Tring occasionally get interesting birds. |

| | | Re: Locations in Hertfordshire It's also just down the road from Hexton chalkpit which is fantastic for flowers and butterflies, not for the physically infirm though! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
