| | | Andy Rouse at Chester Zoo Went to Andy's seminar at Chester yesterday. Had a really good day, can't tell you how many little golden nuggets I picked up on everything from what gear and how to use it more efficiently, through more thoughtful composition to post processing tips and tricks. Many, many lightbulbs lit up in my head yesterday and without doubt a lot of that is down to Andy's simple, no nonsense style.
Got to spend a couple of hours shooting in the zoo in the afternoon too, which broke things up nicely, one of my shots from the day below (about the only one that's 'British' wildlife in fact )
Don't think I could go on one of his expeditions though, I wouldn't get a single sharp picture from all the falling about laughing, I bet those trips are a scream If you're reading this Andy, I've no idea how you get away with some of those jokes..
Oh, and was fortunate enough to win a little competition on the day too, so now have some cash to spend on more gear, hurrah.. ! |

| | | Re: Andy Rouse at Chester Zoo Hey Richard,
Even reading some of his books I find myself giggling a bit. I'm always a little wary of photo trips and tours. I can in the mindset that 'I don't need to spend lots of dosh in order to improve my photography'. I bet I would really enjoy them though and I'm glad you did too.
Well done on your victory!

| | | Re: Andy Rouse at Chester Zoo I would like to go on one of these photography courses, Andy's or anyone elses. Something for next year, maybe.
I have some of his books and they're full of handy info and also amusing asides, too. Andy's good at combining seriousness with levity.

Well done on winning the Comp - I won the first Slimbridge one. How about showing us the winning image? |

| | | Re: Andy Rouse at Chester Zoo I went to Chester Zoo last Wednesday and I have to say that its a really good zoo. The lighting was unfortunately bad but I did see a rare plant in there! |

| | | Re: Andy Rouse at Chester Zoo Hi Richard
the other half and I were there as well, it was great day, also your picture was great and I could see why it won.
I am playing with photo mechanic at the moment and it does seem a little easier then bridge to use
But the real big thing I have taken away is filing your photos in a easier way to find things, so I really going to spend time sort out how and where we store our pictures. but I need to decide on a system 1st (plus get enough energy to plough through the files)
what I find so great about listening to Andy is the fact that he loves animals 1st and so taking picture is a natural follow up to that and this is why have I started as well, I just love watching nature....... I also keeping forgetting to take a photo as I am busy looking instead.
Any way off to get a cup of tea and think about re-filing

Didn't even get a mention!
