| | | Re: Photography Website Creation Also using alamy (et al) doesnt give you a web presence you are simply displaying your photos on their website.
and as regards selling them alamy etc are selling photos for stock which as jeff says is a market very near saturation. Most people who sell from their own websites are selling either prints of their images or their services as a photographer.

| | | Re: Photography Website Creation I use JAlbum as it is simple to use and comes with a great selection of themes. Also you can cut and paste the index page into something like macromedia to edit the theme itself.
Its also free.
Here is my very simple website created with JAlbum Photography

| | | Re: Photography Website Creation You've got some great pix on there, Ruth - love that one of the reservoir in winter! Also the one of Aira Force reminded me of when I was there in July last year and was so difficult trying to get a photo of that bridge without people on it! Such a lovely walk all the way along to that waterfall too

| | | Re: Photography Website Creation Cutecoot, What camera are you looking to use it with?
Mine was with a D40, and even though the images are ok, i had no end of problems with the built-in auto focus motor stopping mid focus!
I found it was also quite noisey. however for £150 from Jessops it not bad for a 1st telephoto lens.
I have recently bought a Nikon 70-300mm VR lens for £300, Needless to say it was money well spent. will upload some images taken with soon.
Thanks for the comment.

Matthew. | I have a Nikon D40 too, Matthew .. slightly put off by what you've said, but then for just over a hundred quid (I've seen some for less than £150!), maybe its worth putting up with a few niggles .. don't think I can afford 300 for a Nikon one at the moment

| | | Re: Photography Website Creation It can be a bit of a pain, but for the price i have captured some great shot IMO.
I still have mine, even though its in the box! As it does have a useful 1:2 Macro feature at 200-300mm.
Bear in mind my was ex-display, so that proberly comes with its own problems. |

| | | Re: Photography Website Creation Oh Cutecoot,
Just a quick footnote, make sure the lens has the built in motor, otherwise you won't be able to use the auto-focus on the D40. |

Thanks for the extra tips/info .. was wondering about the motorised bit (I'm not that 'up' on lenses and saw 'motorised' in the product spec on the one I saw on the net, but didn't know if I needed it or not, or if it would be ok for my camera! So now I know Interesting about the macro, too.)

| | | Re: Photography Website Creation Hi, getting back to website creation, thought I'd add an option which hadnt been mentioned before. A really easy tool to use is the web mobule that comes with Adobe Lightroom 2. It comes with only a few customisable web templates but you can dowload many more opensource (free) ones which are great and look very professional. They come complete with shopping cart and checkout and use paypal, google checkout etc etc. They really are easy to set up and customise to your own liking. Lightroom costs in the region of £200 but it's well worth having. The only downside to these sites is that many use flash to display the images and that means that the images are not searchable on google (to my knowledge) |
