| | | British Wildlife Photography Awards This is a new competition being run for the first time this year and looks quite interesting, particularly as it is specifically for British Wildlife.
It's not open for entries until 2nd April and the closing date is 31st July. It's another one that charges an entry fee which I know can be off-putting: Up to 3 images: £10.00
Up to 9 images: £15.00
Up to 20 images: £20.00 There are seven categories which are Animal Portraits, Animal Behaviour, Urban Wildlife, Hidden Britain, Coast and Marine, Wildlife in my Locality and finally Habitat. You can enter a maximum of three images in each category.

| | | Re: British Wildlife Photography Awards I'd be interested in viewing, rather than participating.
The Wildlife Photographer of the Year event at the Natural History Museum is a truly memorable exhibition and I'd love to see more of this kind of event.
I couldn't see where or if the winning photographs for the British Wildlife Photography Awards were to be exhibited Maybe they haven't decided this yet.
Anyway, I'd just like to wish any WAB members who are thinking of entering lots of luck. If the Gallery images are anything to go by, you lot will win hands down

| | | Re: British Wildlife Photography Awards Looking at the standards of the photographers on WAB, I'm sure we have several potential winners right here.
Pity about the entry charges though.

There's a big spread about it in the January edition of Outdoor Photographer which says: "Winning images and pictures receiving judges' commendations will form part of a series of nationwide exhibitions, including a premier launch and awards event at a prestigious London venue". I'm seriously thinking of entering this one though, just to support it as I think a purely British wildlife photography competition is a great idea and I'd hate to see it die straight away through lack of entries.

| | | Re: British Wildlife Photography Awards That looks really cool, but I expect the standards will be set very high since it's open to pros as well. Still, it's a good excuse to get out with the camera so I might give it a go I'll see if I can get any worthy photos first tho! |

| | | Re: British Wildlife Photography Awards Not knocking this.
However some ten years ago there was a similar event - I can't recall the title now.
I took part and sent a number of both 35mm and 6x6 transparencies, the best I had. I heard nothing some months later I wrote to try and get my transparencies back - letter returned - NO LONGER AT THIS ADDRESS!
That summer I was in Cornwall, looking around a gift shop only to see a rack of postcards of various British mammals - My pictures. These postcards were widespread throughout gift shops in Cornwall and Devon.
Despite a lot of letter writing I never got my transparencies back nor any fee for the pictures.
Just a friendly warning!
