Of course I'm a bit biased because I own one but I did read every review I could find before making the purchase. They were all very positive. The 393 does the job that it was designed for and does it well. So IMO there's no need to spend the extra dosh on something more expensive.

Hi guys
I did'nt want to start a game of one upmanship over gimbal heads just thought i would post a thread in case any one else was thinking on buying one. I tried the 393 and it's a decent head the same with the wimberly even the copy was good I just like the kirk more than the others. I try before i buy had the kirk for a week before i decided to buy one it pays to have photographic friends with good kit. It was the same with the canon 600mm i.s. I tried the 500mm i.s the Sigma 300-800mm ex and the canon 400mm 2.8 i.s before i settled on the 600mm i.s . If you make a living from photography like i do it always pays to get kit that feels right and besides it's tax deductable. At the end of the day if you like something enough it instills confidence and if you are confident you normally get better pictures
